AKA The LoL Monster - by The LoL Monster

I've been incepted.

August 5th 2010 14:06
inception, totem, epic, wow, film

So by this immensely gripping title you could probably guess the genesis of this post almost right away. That's right - I avert your attention to the amazing/epicness of this year's greatest film to burnt up all the projectors: Inception.

Now I haven't boasted about any films in a very long time (mainly due to Hollywood's slump to sheer laziness in terms of creating anything original) but my faith in the art of film has been restored post-Inception. From the director that brought us "The Dark Knight" comes a tale about a man trying to come to grips with his (or any) reality after mastering this concept of inception aka the master manipulator of master manipulators.

Steering this dream vehicle (ohhhhh that word 'dream' will not mean the same thing to me anymore) is a star-studded cast of talent and leading the pack is Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio, the man that can point a finger in your face with great ferocity and receive Oscar nominations for it. He does not disappoint as playing the distressed sub-hero who's trying to right all the wrongs in his life by holding onto what made him sane: his memories.

One of the many, many standout moments in this 2.5 hour thrill-ride was the action/fight sequence where Mr Joseph Gordon-Levitt steals the show by fending off his enemies in hollow hotel hallway whilst literally defying gravity during a pivotal and rather over-dramatized 3-level dream sequence. "Jaw - meet floor."

Never have I been forced to focus all my attention in a cinema by the stunning visuals and surprisingly easy-to-follow dialogue like this. Then again, with Mr. Nolan on the helm, what the hell else did I expect? It's not like I walked in expecting to be hypnotized into an unconscious state (which I presumed earlier would happen upon viewing the Inception trailer).

I'm rating this gem 10.5 out of 10 because the second serving I received of this film made me even more satisfied than the first. The only other time that ever happened was when I was consuming cheeseburgers consecutively after a 7-week long stint with vegetarianism.
