Clean Room? What the hell is that?
April 23rd 2010 04:24
Trying to maintain a clean bedroom is like trying to figure out what the point of the iPad is: redundant.
I call myself an artist of sorts, so in a way I validate my unchanged wasteland through my professional status. The mark of a true creative mind lies within the smell of a dirty pair of month-old trunks. But then there's also a sense of belonging I believe stems from all the clutter and its aroma.
Every male individual in this world is wired to create mess. Whether it's our room, our face or the relationship we have with our junk, we require the need to complicate our lives in order to seek out solutions and fix these sticky situations in hopes of feeling useful. It's called skill development.
Mum gets upset because she feels that nothing can change when she applies her midas 'cleaning-lady' touch and then takes it out on myself and Dad (like father, like son). She must understand that though we appreciate her love for keeping things in order, it's in our pores to stir shit up and make life an interesting ride by redefining the art of cleanliness. Plus, without this four-walled chaos, I would have never met my friends Al and Doug (two flies that sing me to sleep with their 'Zzzzzzzzzzz' renditions.)
A messy room is an encapsulation of our mission statement on life.
